Dyson's High-Tech Humidifying Air Purifier Won a National Psoriasis Foundation Certification

       In the last few years, Dyson pleasantly surprised us by becoming one of our favorite beauty brands. The engineering innovators have launched game-changing tools like the Supersonic Hair Dryer, the Airwrap, and most recently, the Corrale, making the company a force to be reckoned with in the hair-care world. But it turns out Dyson is making a difference in skin care, too.
                 The National Psoriasis Foundation has announced that the Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool is the first machine to earn its Seal of Recognition, which recognizes products that are non-irritating and safe for those living with psoriasis, severely sensitive skin, or joint-mobility limitations. Previously, NPF have bestowed the seal upon topical, over-the-counter skin-care products and laundry detergents, but this is the first time a machine or device has received the honor.

Those with psoriasis know how important it is to find ways to improve their skin comfort. The inflammatory autoimmune condition causes scaly, red plaques on the skin that can cause itching and discomfort that can be exacerbated by stress, certain lifestyle choices, and irritating ingredients in some skin-care products.

"For many people living with psoriasis or severely sensitive skin, dry air can cause symptoms to flare, and air pollutants can create issues when they land on the skin or are breathed in. An all-in-one machine that cleans pollutants from the air while it humidifies, all without creating ozone, makes the Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool a welcome addition to NPF’s Seal of Recognition program," the organization said in a statement. The seal is given to a product after five dermatologists have unanimously agreed upon its benefits and five people who have moderate-to-severe psoriasis have evaluated it and found that it's easy to use and reduces symptoms.

More than a humidifier, the Pure Humidify + Cool has a filtration system that captures gases and particles while projecting purified, humidified air throughout the room with an optional cooling airflow feature. The $800 price tag definitely indicates that it's not just a fan, but the NPH seal indicates that, for those seeking psoriasis relief, it may very well be worth the splurge.
